1504 Saint Ambrose Bishop of Milan Bible Miracles Post Incunable Jean Petit
“No one heals himself by wounding another.”
― Ambrose of Milan
Saint Ambrose, Bishop of Milan, is the most important ecclesiastical father of the 4th-century and has continually been an influence both in Milan and throughout the Western world even though he has been associated with persecutions of non-Christians.
Most of surviving writings are exegetical in nature; letters and essays in which he writes on faith, offices of the church, the Holy Ghost, mysteries of God, commentary of the Gospels and Old Testament, as well as funeral orations.
This 1504 post-incunable edition of Saint Ambrose was published by Jean Petit (note the Petit printer’s device on the title page), and is exceedingly rare. According to the USTC, only one example of this edition is known to exist in any American library or institution – a very rare and desirable early incunabula style printing of Saint Ambrose!
