During the reign of Louis XII of France, very little was written on the life and efforts of the king. However, Louis XII did employ an historian, Jean d’Auton, to chronicle French military battles and extraordinary events that occurred during his reign. Along with Claude de Seyssel, Auton’s annals were some of the few histories written on Louis XII’s reign.

This volume from Auton’s history covers the years 1506 to 1508 and includes biographical descriptions of important French figures including:

• Charles II d’Ambroise
• George d’Amboise
• Henry VII of England
• Jacques de La Palice

This 1615 first edition was collected and edited by Theodore Godefroy who published the work under the title ‘Histoire de Louys XII’.
