1642 1ed Religious Assemblies Anglo-Catholic Thorndike English Church Cambridge
Herbert Thorndike was a 17th-century English churchman who wrote important theological treatises, including his 1642 work ‘Of Religious Assemblies’. This book discusses the use of ceremonies within the Church, notes of church reforms, obligations and rules pertaining to clergy, preaching, orders of public service, origins of litanies and liturgical texts, sings Psalms and hymns, and much more. Interestingly, Thorndike did not distinguish between the Catholic or Protestant church, in fact, his views and works helped establish what became known as Anglo-Catholic theology.
