Alexander Neville was a 16^th-century scholar known for his studies in antiquities. His portfolio of works isn’t as extensive as other English scholars from this era; however, his work ‘Furoribus Norfolcensium Ketto Duce’ is considered the best work on Kett’s Rebellion of 1549.

Kett’s Rebellion took place in Norfolk, when Edward VI’s forces suppressed Robert Kett and his rebels who were destroying fences of wealthy property owners. Neville frustrated many Welsh readers who took offense to Neville calling Welsh soldiers ‘lazy sheep’.
