1648 1st ed Saint Cyprian Bishop of Carthage Early Christian MARTYR Papacy FOLIO
“It is a persistent evil to persecute a man who belongs to the grace of God. It is a calamity without remedy to hate the happy.”
― Cyprian
Cyprian was an Early Church bishop of Carthage from the 3rd-century. Cyprian was the first to write about the primacy of the Pope as it was set out in “The Unity of The Catholic Church”. Most of his writings surround pastoral ministry, addressing many of the issues with the Roman government. He also determined prayer to be “the only refuge of the Christian”.
This 1648 first edition of the works of St. Cyprian was collected and edited by Nicolas Rigault.
