A rare early 18^th-century French New Testament Bible published in Amsterdam. This particular Bible was collected and edited by theologians and Bible scholars in Geneva and contains the ‘Psalms of David’ by Clement Marot and Theodore de Beza. Beza was one of the most prolific French Protestants during the Reformation. His biblical translations were extremely important and popular throughout Europe, especially among Calvinists. Each Psalm in this printing of the ‘Pseaumes de David’ is set to music in the form of chant and features the French texts of both Beza and 16^th-century Renaissance poet Marot.
