Beginning in 1651, Pietro Sforza Pallavicino composed a thorough and detailed response denying Paolo Sarpi’s ‘History of the Council of Trent’. With the support of other Jesuits, Pallavicino wrote extensively on Catholic doctrine which does not differ from that which was established by the Council of Trent; however, he does discuss major controversial treatises that arose from the most important ecumenical council.
