1687 Great Turkish WAR 1ed Chronicle Hungary Ottoman Turks Empire Mehmed IV MAPS
In 1683, a series of battles between Ottoman Empire and the Holy Roman Empire turned into what is now known as the Great Turkish War. Much of the war came to a head in 1686 when various Ottoman sieges created more hostility between the two sides. A year later, a Nurnberg-based publishing house produced a chronicle of the events of the war – “Hungarisch-tuerckische Chronick”. This 1867 edition contains numerous full-page and folding engravings depicting iconic figures, battle scenes, and charts.
