Benjamin Trumbull was an 18^th-century American historian who was known for his sermons and theological treatises. While serving as a preacher in North Haven, Connecticut, Trumbull published a series of discourses on scriptures. “Twelve Discourses” was written to provide context and commentary on specific Bible passages. Trumbull covers passages from Proverbs, the validity of the Pentateuch, the authenticity of New Testament passages, truths found in Jeremiah, and proofs of New Testament miracles. Perhaps the most interesting is Discourse VII in which Trumbull speaks on the fulfillment of prophecies and the accomplishment of Jesus’s predictions.
