Gabriele Simeoni was a 16^th-century humanist who is primarily remembered for his emblem books. Perhaps his best and most notable work was his collection of Old Testament illustrations. These engravings are some of the most desirable 16^th-century Bible illustrations, not only because of their details, but because of how many Simeoni included in his collection. This 1574 edition of Simeoni’s Old Testament and New Testament figures was published in Venice and features more than 350 woodcuts with descriptions! According to Brun, the illustrations are

“well designed and executed, and have been praised by bibliographers.”
