Jules Verne’s adventure novels are some of the most popular and famous works of literature of all time. Known mostly for his works of science fiction, this first edition of “The Vanished Diamond”, part of Verne’s ‘Extraordinary Voyages’, follows the story of a mining engineer who seeks to study the formation of diamonds. It is a story of love and adventure, written in the classic ‘Verne’ style.

This rare, 1884 first edition includes the famed ‘two elephants’ on the front cover! As expected, this edition includes one of Verne’s least known adventures novels – ‘The Archipelago on Fire’. Two first edition works in one!

Note on dating: like many other Verne first editions, the title page included was issued in each edition, including later printings. This particular edition of Verne’s was published in 1884 – note the ads at the end advertising for the releases in the 1885 print year.
