The Biblioteque du Roi was an 18^th-century, pre-French Revolution department of research known for concerning itself with history and science studies. Numerous articles, essays, and reports were published by the Academie Royale; however, only three collections of treatises and essays were published prior to the French Revolution and the ultimate dissolution of the academy.

This third, and certainly most famous volume deals primarily with the trial of Joan of Arc. It includes numerous articles by François de l’Alverdy. It also includes:
