Joachim Hoppers was a 16^th-century Dutch jurist who was known for his service to Philip II of Spain. While much of his career was spent in European politics, he also wrote books on jurisprudence and law. Hoppers describes the role of magistrates, divisions in juries, ecclesiastical law concerning monks and clerics, civil suit actions, criminal punishment, and much more.

This 1580 first edition was published with only 2,000 copies – a rare and hard to find printing of Dutch law.
