Christoph Jacob Trew was an 18^th-century anatomist who became famous for his studies in botany. One of his best works of botany was his study on Aloe. In this short treatise, Trew describes the American Aloe plant offering descriptions of its medicinal benefits and uses. In 1726 in Nuremburg, Trew observed a successfully blooming Aloe plant, offering explanations for its curious growth.

This 1727 first edition of Trew’s “Aloe” describes not only his own observations and uses of aloe but compiled writings of other botanist’s studies on aloe, including American, African, and the Nuremburg Aloe.

This book curiously contains meteorological tables in which Trew attempts to forecast the natural conditions for growing ripe Aloe seeds.
