Jacob Tirinus was an early 17^th-century Belgian Jesuit who was best-known for his Bible commentary. First published in 1645, “Commentarius in Sacram Scripturam”, this commentary not only contains annotations on the books of the Bible but also includes descriptions of the Holy Land and other major locations covered in the Bible such as Egypt, Babylon, and Syria.

This huge tome from the 1704 Frankfurt edition includes commentary on the Pentateuch, Kings, Chronicles, Job, Psalms, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel. It also includes non-canonical books such as ‘Sapientiae’, or Wisdom of Solomon, Baruch, and ‘Sirach’.
