Mariana of Jesus de Paredes was a 17^th-century Catholic saint from Ecuador. Her ministry was centered around the Jesuit church in Ecuador, which was established in the first half of the 1600s in Ecuador. Mariana was known for her devout prayer life with numerous records of her prophetic visions and miracle healings. Even her death was shrouded with mystery – a single white flower was said to have bloomed out of her blood which earned her the nickname “Lily of Quito”.

Author Juan del Castillo published an account of Paredes’s life – “Vita della Marianna de Gesu de Paredes”. This 1776 edition was published in Rome.
