1514 Rochus Curtius Commentary on Catholic Right of Patronage post INCUNABLE
A rare, early 16th-century commentary on Jus Patronatus, the Roman Catholic canon law better known as right of patronage. First published in 1506, Rocco Corte’s “De Jure Patronatus” was the standard book on the right of patronage for nearly 200 years, and this 1514 printing is one of the earliest. Corte, or Curtius, gave clarity to laymen about the church’s authority to grant privileges, goods, and land.
An impressive post-incunable edition, complete with printer’s device on the first page, bound in modern leather with marbled boards.
