Decimus Magnus Ausonius was a 4th-century Roman poet who is best known for his poem ‘Mosella’ – a description of the French river the Moselle. This edition of the works of Ausonius was published in Florence in 1517 and includes his most important works such as ‘Epigrams’, ‘Edyllium’, and ‘Periochae’ – a prose summary of Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey. Ausonius’s works provide an account of what daily life was like in Ancient Rome.

 

This first Giunta edition of the works of Ausonius is considered to be quite valuable – and according to the USTC, only one copy exists in any North American institution.
