Mariano Trinci was a 16^th-century Italian humanist author known for his dramatic poetry focusing on themes of love, loss, greed, and chastity. One of his best known works was “Comedia de’ moti Fortuna” – a poem following the adventures of a princess who faces countless challenges including being kidnapped, lost in a forest, and overcoming advances from a hermit.

This book, along with many others from this era, followed the popular Renaissance themes of seeking and finding fortune. It was first published in 1518 in Siena and Florence and was met with incredible success and popularity throughout Italy.
