Ludolph of Saxony was a 14th-century Germany Catholic monk known primarily for his book ‘Vita Christi’ or ‘Life of Christ.’ First printed in 1470, this book was one of the most important 15th-century devotional and meditational works and was highly influential in the writings and ministry of Ignatius of Loyola. It includes a biography of Jesus Christ and his ministry, dogmas, spiritual instructions, prayers, and meditations.

 

This 1544 Lyon edition was published by Antoine Vincent and is an exceedingly rare printing based on the earlier printing of Josse Badius. According to the USTC, only two known copies exist in any institution in Europe.
