Giovanni Nevizzano was a 16^th-century Italian scholar known for his contributions to jurisprudence. While much of his life is unknown, he is remembered for his law treatises including “Sylvae Nuptialis” – a work on family law. Nevizzano covers all familial concerns including marriage, bearing and raising children, laws concerning dowry, adultery and divorce law, succession and transfer of assets, and a discussion on the monitorial system.

This 1545 edition of early Italian family law was published in Lyon and features a highly coveted press of French royal arms on the front and back boards!
