Bartholomew Cipolla was a 15^th-century Italian diplomat known for his service to the Republic of Venice. He had numerous, substantial writings on inheritance law focusing on family rights, property law, and inheritance distribution all in the context of Italian and Bavarian traditions.

This 1567 German printing of Cipolla’s “State of Bavarian Hereditary Goods” was published in Ingolstadt, collected and translated by German jurist Martin Pegie of Salzburg. This work focuses on Bavarian traditions of servitude, legal rights of peasants, inheritance law as it pertains to servants and property rights.
