Giovanni Antonio Viperani was a 16th-century Jesuit bishop who served throughout Italy, most notably at Giovinazzo. While little else is known of his life and ministry, he did leave behind a collection of writings – writings of philosophy, humanism, theology, and even poetical criticism. One of his treatises was ‘De Ratione Docendi”, or ‘On the Methods of Teaching’ – a discourse in pedagogy and the principles of instruction.
