Johann Glandorp was a 16th-century German Reformation humanist who was much better remembered for his ‘Onomasticon Historiae Romanae’ – a detailed history of the Roman Empire. Glandorps’s history of Rome was written as a prosopography, giving short, but thorough descriptions of, seemingly, all important Romans giving insight to the political and social relationships between notable figures. Each entry is sorted alphabetically – notable names include Cicero, Nepos, Claudius, Julian, Ovid, and many others.
