“It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.”

― Aristotle

Julius Caesar Scaliger was an Italian physician who was known for his defense of Aristotelian humanism. Late in his life, he finally decided to publish many of his written treatises, including his study on Aristotle’s ‘De Plantis’. Much in part to this work, 18th-century philosophers such as Leibniz recognized Scaliger as one of the best promoters of Aristotelian philosophy and metaphysics. Aristotle’s ‘On Plants’ describes the nature and origin of plants; and upon modern study, was actually written by Nicolaus of Damascus, rather than Aristotle.

This rare 1598 edition was published in Marburg, Germany by Paul Egenol.
