Lycophron was Greek poet whose poem ‘Alexandra’ one of very few surviving works of the Hellenistic poet. This poem tells the prophetic stories of Cassandra in Greek mythology and the fortunes of city of Troy and Trojan heroes. This poem was one of the earliest written accounts of Alexander the Great with references to his uniting Asia and Europe as a world power.
This 1599 Elzevier edition was edited with commentary by Joannes Meursius and his instructor Joseph Scaliger, who was well known for his commentary and critical notes of classic texts such as Aristotle, Julius Caesar, and the New Testament.
