Charles Borromeo was a 16^th-centry Italian Cardinals who served as the Archbishop of Milan. As a devout Catholic, Borromeo worked with Saint Ignatius in the Counter Reformation and is best remembered for his efforts establishing the final session of the Council of Trent.

In 1610, the Catholic Church canonized Borromeo, recognizing his works and service, making him a saint. Following his sainthood, Spanish author Francisco Pena took the opportunity to write a book on Catholic reforms through the lens and legacy of Borromeo. This book was published in 1611 describing Borromeo as a model clergy for those still involved in 17^th-century Catholic reformations.
