Louis XI of France was the King of France during the mid-15^th-century and was best known for his intense political conspiracies. One of his most important military events was battle and subsequent isolation of Charles the Bold, the Duke of Burgundy, in which Louis signed the Treaty of Picquigny ending the Hundred Years’ War – a pact that ultimately ended the dukes of Burgundy dynasty.

The life of Louis XI is best portrayed by French author Jean de Roye in his “Chronicle of Louis XI”. De Roye was a 15^th-century chronicler whose ‘History’ encompasses the entirety of Louis XI’s reign.
