Apuleius’s ‘Metamorphoses’, also known as ‘The Golden Ass,’ is the only ancient Roman novel to exist complete as it was originally written. This work is a collection short tales following Lucius and his curios desire for magic. Apuleius describes interesting and bizarre encounters including sword swallowers, evil witches and bodily dismemberment, notes of mythological gods, daring escapes, and adventure.
This collection of the works of Apuleius was edited by Peter Schriver and published by Caesius in Amsterdam. Other works included in this small book include:

- Likely Jacques de Lazerme (1909-1986), 4th Count of Lazerme, President of the Automobile Club des Pyrénées-Orientales, he received Pablo Picasso between 1953 and 1955. In the 1970s, he sold his family’s mansion to the city of Perpignan, who set up the Hyacinthe Rigaud Museum there in 1979. He was the author of several works on his family, including Notices on the Lazerme and Roussillon family.
