This Plantin printing features red and black ink throughout, pages enclosed in rule-border, full-page engravings, and Gregorian chant music notation. Beginning in the 16^th-century, few printing houses were as famous or as popular as the Plantin Press and was the epicenter of printed liturgical texts. The Papacy gave complete control to Plantin to create liturgical texts, such as this Roman Missal.
