This work was one of the best books describing Middle Eastern, and Arab, and Islamic history. Laet covers all expected topics of Persian history – topography, geography, religious customs, government and politics, etc. It also includes 17^th-century descriptions of Middle Eastern cities such as Baghdad, Damascus, and Mecca.  This 1633 first edition includes eight full-page engravings of Persian dress.
