Nicholas Lockyer’s “Olive Leaf” was a 17^th-century devotional focused on the resurrection of Christ. Lockyer, an English nonconformist minister, served as chaplain to Oliver Cromwell during the English Civil War.

Devotionals and theological essays from this era and considerably rare and this 1650 first edition is no exception. It is worth noting that the English language used in this work is reminiscent of Early Modern English. Consider this example of dialogue from “Olive Leaf”:
