Written by French Jesuit Jacques Sirmond, “Historia Poenitentiae Publica” discusses the outward display of acts of penance through penitent worship with significant emphasis on the Eucharist and entering God’s presence with a pure heart, seeking forgiveness of sin. This 1651 first edition was published in Paris by Cramoisy.

  • Schloss Nordkirchen is a palace situated in North Rhine Westphalia, Germany. The schloss, largely built between 1703 and 1734 and known as the “Versailles of Westphalia,” was originally one of the residences of the Prince-Bishopric of Münster, Friedrich Christian von Plettenberg. In 1833, the complex passed to Count von Esterházy, likely when he married Maria von Plettenberg-Wittem. The Esterházy and Plettenberg arms are both featured on this bookplate.
