Ottavio Corsetto was a wealthy 16th-century Italian lawyer from a noble family in Palermo. While he studied outside of Sicily, he lived most of his life in Palermo studying law and writing works. He was quite accustomed to the culture and living styles in Palermo during 16th-century, so much so that he was able to write multiple works on life in Palermo. Perhaps his greatest was ‘Consilia Diversorum Siculorum’ – a dissertation on the privileges and high-class living in Palermo. This work, along with a few other dissertations and memoirs, was not published during Corsetto’s lifetime. It wasn’t until the early 17th-century that this book was finally published.

This 1656 Latin edition was collected and edited by Francesco Baronio, who published it in Palermo.
