Leonhard Meyer’s “Memorable Stories of Holy Martyrs” is a rare 17^th-century collection of biographies of notable martyrs. While this work is not nearly as prolific as John Foxe’s ‘Book of Martyrs’, Meyer’s ‘Stories’ features hundreds of the most iconic martyrs including Polycarp, Girolamo Savonarola, Thomas Cranmer, and Gaspard de Coligny.

In addition to Meyer’s “Martyrs”, this 1664 tome contains three other shorter treatises including works by Justinian Ernst von Welz, a Lutheran missionary. These treatises include his report on the basics of establishing a healthy society, renouncing vanity, and practicing self-denial.
