1667 1ed History of Popes Nephews Papal Nepotism ROME Vatican Gregorio Leti 2v
In 1667, Italian historian Gregorio Leti published an important book on the history of Papal nepotism – ‘History of the Popes Nephews’. A Papal-nephew, or cardinal-nephew, is a Catholic official whose office is elevated because of they are related to the pope. This practice was at its height during the 17th-century when Leti sought to expose many of the Renaissance popes and the history of the papacy.
This impressive 1667 first edition was published by Elzevier and printed in Amsterdam. Willems says of this edition: “a well printed edition from Elzevier”.
