Alessandro Tassoni was a 16th-century Italian poet best known for his work ‘La Secchia Rapita’, or ‘The Rape of the Pail’. This epic poem was written sometime in the mid-1610s but had significant trouble getting published much in part to the Catholic Church’s censorship. The story follows Italian battles with interventions by gods and the Pope.
This 1670 first edition was collected and edited by Gaspare Salviani published in Bologna by Longhi.
