He served successively as Bishop of Lavaur (1677–1685), Archbishop of Aix (1685–1687), Archbishop of Albi (1687–1703) and Archbishop of Narbonne (1703–1719). • René-François de Beauvau du Rivau (1664-1739) was a French prelate, and Archbishop of Narbonne 1726–1738. He was entrusted by Louis XIV with several ecclesiastical appointments, such as the bishoprics of Bayonne (1700) and Tournai (1707), the latter of which he held during the siege by Prince Eugene in 1709; and the archbishoprics of Toulouse (1713) and Narbonne.
