Pierre Daniel Huet was a 17^th-century French bishop who was well-remembered for his translations and commentary on Greek theology and early Church history. One of his most prominent books was ‘Demonstratio evangelica’. First published in 1679, this work is a survey of pagan beliefs through the lens of evangelism. Huet discusses the origins of paganism as it when Israel, under Moses, was in Egypt. This book also contains an attack on Benedictus Spinoza’s famous treatise “Tractatus Theologico-Politicus” emphasizing the differences between Biblical Judaism and Christianity.
