“Lay siege to your sins, and starve them out by keeping away the food and fuel which is their maintenance and life.”

Richard Baxter

Richard Baxter was one of the most important 17th-century English Puritan Nonconformist leaders. While best known for his work ‘Saints Everlasting Rest’, he published an autobiography entitled “Reliquiae Baxterianae” in which he describes the most notable events in his life.

The most significant aspect of this book includes his role in the English Civil Wars, serving as a chaplain in the parliamentary army all while advocating for limiting the monarchy. He also describes his efforts to promote religious tolerance in a post-restoration England.
