Jean II le Maingre, more commonly called Boucicaut, was a 14^th-century French knight known for his military prowess as the Marshal of France. His military successes came from his crusades against the Ottoman Empire, both those of his own order and those aiding the Byzantine Empire. In addition to his military career, he established knightly orders than defended the honor of women and promoted courtly love.

This 1697 biographical sketch of Boucicaut was written by an unknown author known simply as Pilham. This work is one of the best resources on the life of Boucicaut as well as the details of battles such as the Battle of Nicopolis and the Battle of Agincourt.
