Lycophron was Greek poet whose poem ‘Alexandra’ one of very few surviving works of the Hellenistic poet. This poem tells the prophetic stories of Cassandra in Greek mythology and the fortunes of city of Troy and Trojan heroes. This poem was one of the earliest written accounts of Alexander the Great with references to his uniting Asia and Europe as a world power.
This 1697 Oxford edition was paraphrased by Byzantine poets Isaac and John Tzetzes in the 12th-century and includes their famous commentary originally entitled “Chiliades”.
