John Hamar was a 17th-century English cleric and Greek scholar who served at Westminster School. He wrote numerous works on Greek grammar and letters, but perhaps his best work was his translation of the Westminster Shorter Catechism into Greek and Latin, ‘Catechesis’. This 1698 edition of Harmar’s ‘Catechesis’ was published with his ‘Hymnus in usum Scholae Westmonasteriensis’, or ‘Hymns used in Westminster School’.
