Terence was a 2^nd-century BC Roman playwright who is most remembered for his comedies. His six plays, which all survive, were composed after he was freed from slavery. His plays were composed in simple Latin and were popular during the Middle Ages, despite having prevalent themes of paganism throughout.

Published in 1699, this French and Latin three-volume set was edited by Anne Dacier who became popular for her translations of Homer. This set includes a life of Terence as described by Suetonius as well as the six plays.
