Originally printed in 1661, this version of the Psalms of David was printed in the Upper Engadine language, or Romansch. It was written with musical examples and melodies for the verses intended to be sung, rather than simply read. According to Darlow and Moule,

“A metrical version of the Psalter, with certain Canticles and Hymns, and with musical notation, prepared by Lurainz Wietzel, of Zuz [Zuoz], apparently a son of Luraintz Wietzel, ‘Landammann’ of Upper Engadine, who is mentioned in the preface to [a previous Romansh Bible]. This Psalter was based on the popular German Psalm-book, prepared by A. Lobwasser.”

This 1733 is the second edition, and the first since the 17th-century original. Darlow and Moule state,

“a second and enlarged edition appeared in 1733. This was printed in Straeda, [Switzerland], in the lower Engadine, on the Austrian frontier, by Johan N. Janet, at the cost of Joha Batista Rascher, of Zuz, who wrote the preface to the book.”
