Raimondo Montecuccoli was a 17th-century Italian soldier who is known for his command in the Thirty Years’ War. He led campaigns in the Low Countries, most notably the Battle of Nordlingen, as well as battles in the Franco-Dutch War. He was taken prisoner in 1639 during this time he studied the works of classic authors which led him to write his military memoirs. These memoirs described his tactics used in war, fortifications, and military history.
This 1760 French edition was published in Paris and contains illustrations of forts!
