- Charles MacKenzie of Kilcoy was an ensign in the 78th Highlanders, 2nd battalion established in 1794. The regiment received battle honors in the Battle of Assaye, as well as the Battle of Maida and the Invasion of Java during the Napoleonic Wars. The regiment would merge with the 72nd Highlanders in 1881 to become the Seaforth Highlanders.
