1762 Freemasons Crushed Larudan anti Masonic Propaganda Oliver Cromwell CULT
Abbe Larudan (pseudonym of an unknown French writer) was an 18th-century French Catholic known solely for his anti-Masonic book, ‘The Freemasons Crushed’. This book, “Les Franc-Maçons ecrasés”, became the basis for Catholic attacks on Freemasons; however, Larudan wrote this from a Protestant perspective in hopes of having Freemasons assume it was Protestant ire rather than Catholic. Larudan fabricated a story of Oliver Cromwell calling Freemasonry a cult and invented fake rituals which he claimed were used by the Freemasons.
A fascinating history with Catholic, Protestant, Cromwell, and Masonic interest!
