Francois Robson was an 18^th-century French author, of whom very little is known. In fact, the only work known to him was his history of the life of Hyder Ali, the Mysore Sultan in the mid-18^th-century. Hyder Ali, or Hyder-Ali-Khan, gained prominence to the Western world from his dominant military success against the East India Company and the Anglo-Mysore Wars. Interestingly, much of what we know of Hyder Ali is due to Robson and this biography.
