1787 MASONIC Origins of Adonhiramite Freemasonry Rituals Guillemain Maçonnerie
Books on freemasonry, published in the 18th-century are notoriously rare and difficult to obtain. This book is a rare and important collection of Adonhiramite masonry catechisms, writings, and doctrine by Louis Guillemain de Saint-Victor. It discusses freemason lodges, songs, and reflections within an assortment of small works dedicated to Freemasonry in France during the 18th-century. This book also dictates the origins of that branch of freemasonry.
Adonhiramite Freemasonry is loosely based on and taken from Jewish Scriptures and traditions which shed light on masonic legends. It is largely attributed to Saint-Victor because of this work and is named after Adonhiram, who first appears in the Book of Samuel in the Old Testament. Adonhiramite Freemasonry is often considered the ‘orthodox faith’ of Freemasonry. Adonhiramite Freemasons are essentially disciples of Hiram Abif, the architect of the Temple of Adonhiram and are subject to the twelve degrees associated with Adonhiramites. (Mackey).
